Around the World in Eight Weeks

An island is a piece of land surrounded completely by water. Islands can be very small but not too big — if they get too big they’re called “continents” (think of Australia). One out of every ten people in the world lives on an island. That might be surprising until you realize that Englandis an island as is Greenland and Indonesia(which has the fourth largest population in the world.) We seem to be fascinated with these special spots. There’s even a word for “a crazy (or strong) attraction to islands”: islomania. Let’s check out some famous islands around the globe.
