Enhancing the Joy

Do you love Simchas Torah so much you wish it would last all year? Some people are lucky enough to bring joy to an already joyous event all year-round — being the main coordinators at a hachnassas sefer Torah. Jr. speaks to two such people: Rabbi Shmuel Glassman of Glassman Events and Rabbi Shulem Paysach Korn of Korn’s Hachnosos Sefer Torah Truck.

Enhancing the Joy
Both Rabbi Glassman and Rabbi Korn credit their yeshivos as the jump starters of their businesses. While Rabbi Glassman was a bochur in Mesivta Torah Vodaath the yeshivah organized the writing of a sefer Torah in honor of then-rosh yeshivah Rav Avraham Pam ztz”l. Rabbi Glassman who describes himself as a “macher of a bochur ” was asked to help out with the coordination of the actual hachnassas sefer Torah. The project was a dazzling success. At the hachnassas sefer Torah’s conclusion Rav Pam eloquently said “How could such a small heart contain so much love?” Rabbi Glassman’s coordination was a huge success. In fact shortly afterward the young but exceedingly capable Shmuel Glassman was formally hired to undertake another hachnassas sefer Torah. That was 17 years and more than 1 000 hachnassas sefer Torah events ago.
