Fishel and Faivish Get Swept Away

With a sigh, Fishel closed the picture book he’d been looking through. How he wished he’d lived in the olden days, like the children in the book! Horses and carts had filled the streets. Highway robbers had lain in wait for unwary travelers. Pirates had sailed the seas. All in all, life had been filled with adventure and spice.

Fishel’s eyes fell on the cover of the book. It showed a chimney sweep not much older than himself getting ready to climb up a chimney with a brush. Suddenly Fishel had an idea. TheFriedmans had a rather fancy fireplace in the living room. It was there purely for show and no fire had been lit in it for years. But above that fireplace there was a chimney. That chimney could surely do with a good sweep! And he Fishel was going to make sure it got one! First Fishel decided to dress the part. He found an old torn cap and draped it over one eye. Then he got hold of some black shoe polish and rubbed it all over his face to make it look grubby.
