When watching an ant is the most interesting part of your day you know you’re in trouble, Leah thought. She sighed from the tip of her hair to the tip of her toes. This trip was not what she’d expected. No, sirree.

It had been a rainy day in May class as boring as ever when a monitor knocked at room 405’s door. Mrs. Berger the History teacher shook her blond sheitel finished her sentence and opened the door. “Yes?” she asked looking down at the eighth-grade monitor. Instead of replying the girl handedMrs.Berger a small square piece of pink paper. The entire class looked on in interest — exceptLeah. In her entire seven years of school those messages were never for her. “LeahLemmel ”Mrs.Berger called.Leah sat up straight as a pencil and the girls all stared. “Please go straight home after school. I don’t know why ” she continued answering the question inLeah’s eyes.
