Jewish thinkers are always in the media. They make very profound pronouncements about life about world events (past present and especially future) about the meaning and significance of… well everything. Thinkers think a lot — that is their job — and they are more than willing to share the results of their thinking with the rest of us non-thinkers.
Jewish theologians are also widely quoted in the media. They make very profound pronouncements about G d and how He runs the universe and about the deeper meaning of the daily headlines. Theologians theologize a lot — that is their job — and they are more than willing to share their theological insights with the rest of us non-theologians
I like reading the distillations of the cogitations and esoteric peregrinations of thinkers and theologians — even though their ratiocinations rarely leave me any wiser (although they enrich my vocabulary).
I confess that I have never quite understood the difference between the two. I gather that theologians strictly speaking deal with G d and His relationship to the world. Thinkers on the other hand think about this world not heavenly matters though occasionally they can be discerned ruminating about heaven as well.
