Did you ever dip your hand into water and see the water light up around it? Visit the Glistening Waters at the lagoon in Falmouth in the north of Jamaica at night and watch the water glow when you touch it. If you’re brave enough swim around and come out glowing. This natural phenomenon which happens in only four or five places in the world is known as bioluminescence. It happens here because the fresh water of theMarthaBraeRiver meets the saltwater of the ocean and creates the perfect environment for microscopic organisms called dinoflagellates.
