What do you think is the largest living thing on earth? You might guess a blue whale or a giant redwood tree, but you’d be wrong. The biggest thing in the world is… a huge fungus.

In the soil of Oregon’s Blue Mountain Forest lies a honey fungus that covers more than four square miles (about 1 665 football fields) and weighs over a hundred tons! Don’t worry this monster fungus won’t eat you. Fungi (plural for fungus) prefer to eat things that have already died. How a fungus eats is interesting as they don’t have mouths.
