Overheard: Issue 934

“There are certain words we have that just can’t be translated into one English word. One such word is ‘geshmak.’ The geshmak one should feel in his learning is something that can’t be teitshed up in a single word.”

—Rav Dovid Schustal shlita. In conversation with a young boy, the Rosh Yeshivah of Beis Medrash Govoha had inquired whether the young boy had a geshmak in his learning and then proceeded to explain the word “geshmak.”
