As thousands of missiles and rockets fell on Israel during the 9 days of Operation Pillar of Defense, Sari Perlberg, 12, from Ashdod, kept a detailed diary. Here she shares it with Mishpacha Junior readers.

Wednesday November 14 2012:

All the schools and cheders were dismissed early today. They explained that the security situation was tense becauseIsraelhad killed Ahmed Jabari a top Hamas commander. As we walked home from school we could see everyone rushing to their houses and the streets emptying out of people. It really feels like war is on its way …

A siren sounded at 9:00 p.m. and then again at 11:30 p.m. Since the apartments in our building don’t have safe rooms all the neighbors came to the staircase in between the first and second floor — most of them in pajamas!
