Shaky Home
Shavuos was approaching and Becca Feldbaum a widowed mother of four young children realized with mounting concern that all of the boys in her son’s first grade class would be in shul on Shavuos night. But without a father to supervise him how could her son participate? Mentally ticking through her neighbors wondering which father she could entrust with the task Becca almost cried with relief when her son’s rebbi called and asked if her son had anyone to take him to shul. When she answered in the negative the rebbi said “I’ll take care of it.” “My son felt so special so proud ” recalls Becca who later authored the book “If There’s Anything I Can Do…” (Feldheim 2003). “But after that I made sure to find someone to take him every year. I realized I had to be proactive if I wanted my son to have a regular childhood.”
