A very small amount of lemon juice erases any trace of a fishy taste.

What’s your trick to tuna fish?

I use my homemade creamy dressing in place of mayo and add chopped celery and shredded carrots. If I’ll be using it the same day I’ll add some chopped purple cabbage, and if I’m not sharing it with some of my picky eaters, I’ll add some chopped fennel for an interesting kick. If you’re a dill lover, a little chopped fresh dill adds great flavor. —Rorie Weisberg

Finely diced celery and red onion, and a nice dash of Old Bay Seasoning. To use less mayo, I also add stone-ground mustard. —Sarah Faygie Berkowitz

Sometimes I buy a large container of Golden Taste tuna salad at Costco and add in diced celery, grated carrots, chopped scallions, and red onion. —Esther Ottensoser

Mash a hard-boiled egg in with the tuna (one egg per can). And mix in diced pickles (along with mayo, salt, and pepper). Yum! —Devorah Cohen
