Shalom Aleichem! I’m Zeidy Zakon. I love Eretz Yisrael, where I live. I love kids. And I love traveling in my “Zeidy-Jeep” with kids like you. So jump in and join me as we get to know Eretz Yisrael. After all, it belongs to you, and to me, and all Jews.
On Tu B’Shvat we want to eat the special fruits of Eretz Yisrael like figs and dates. Since fresh dates and figs are out of season instead we visit booths that sell dried fruit. We see a pile of green discs — that’s dried kiwi. And here are some orange sticks — dried papaya. A favorite Tu B’Shvat treat is dried esrog or esrog jam. When people eat them they say a silent tefillah that Hashem should send them a beautiful esrog for Succos.
