Have you ever noticed little markers on the side of the road? They indicate the distance in miles from one point to another, hence the name mile-stones. Just like those milestones, there are typical expected milestones in a person’s life, starting from birth and continuing throughout one’s lifetime. Unlike markers on the roadside, however, people are much harder to measure. Everyone is different and these differences are what make us who we are.
At two months Baby can smile! He may have been seen smiling before but most doctors believe those smiles are an instinctive muscle twitching. By now Baby has learned that when he sees you he feels happy (not that he knows what happy means) and that makes him produce a smile. This is called social smiling.
