Curious Junior: A Snapshot of Meir Haltovsky

A few months ago, JR. ran a View It! column that contained tips from Mishpacha’s photographer, Meir Haltovsky, who also chose the winners of the photo contest. We take this opportunity to thank Meir for sharing his expertise and for allowing us a peek into his work as a photographer.

Curious Junior: A Snapshot of Meir Haltovsky
Hi Meir! Why did you become a photographer? That’s a good question with a long answer. In brief when I was ten years old I received a camera for an afikomen present from my parents. I enjoyed it a lot and quickly became the photographer for my friends and family. Once I was outside the building where Rav Shach used to live and I managed to snap pictures of him. When I had the film developed — that’s how it was done back then — I thought WOW. It was exciting to capture him like that. I realized it was a talent I wanted to polish so I eventually studied photography in school and became a photographer.
