“Ki Yikare Kan Tzipor”

"The high-pitched voices and choreography were truly mesmerizing"

“Ki Yikare Kan Tzipor”

The London Boys Choir had numerous performances in America when I was growing up. At one memorable performance at Brooklyn College they sang “KI YIKARE KAN TZIPOR” (Pirchei Yerushalayim) while the back wall of the stage was lit up as a bird’s nest. The high-pitched voices and choreography were truly mesmerizing. That song was among our favorites. As kids we’d sing it often, and as troublemakers we’d emphasize the high part, “Shaleich teshalach es ha’eim,” when we were upset at our mother. We joked about that for years.
