Beef Fry and Deli Flatbread

Beef Fry and Deli Flatbread

I’ve tasted many variations of deli pizza, but I was not prepared for the explosion of flavor when I took my first bite of this pizza. I honestly don’t think I would change any component. In my humble opinion, this was simply perfect.

Serves 8

  • 1 6-oz (170-g) pkg beef fry, thinly sliced
  • 1 6-oz (170-g) pkg smoked turkey breast, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 rectangular flatbread (such as Bred Co or Trader Joe’s)
  • 1  1-oz (30-g) garlic beef stick, sliced in rounds (I used Aufschnitt)
  • barbecue sauce, mustard, fresh herbs, or pickled red onions, for topping (optional)

Homemade Barbecue Sauce

  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef fry and allow it to render its fat and begin to brown. Add the turkey and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add all barbecue sauce ingredients and mix to combine. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
